Massage is getting more and more popular. More than 3 million Swedes had 17 million massage sessions during 2011! Double in 8 years. (According to a survey from the Swedish Massage Council and Kroppsterapeuternas Yrkesförbund). The numbers speak for themselves: massage is a very efficient treatment for wellness – for both body and mind. At the Ugglapraktiken we know that massage is healing, preventive, relaxing and can be used as treatment in many areas. We know that massage works and makes a difference!

A few good examples how massage is beneficial. It:

  • Softens tensed muscels and makes them elastic
  • Improves the blood circulation in the muscles
  • Boosts your immune system
  • Has a relaxing effect on your body
  • Prevents stress
  • Prevents tension when you are in pain
  • Improves concentration

All our massage therapists are experienced and certified according to the Swedish Massage Council. The therapist suits the treatment according to your needs. One treatment can involve several treating elements, or could be primarily preventive/relaxing. If you want, you can receive advice at the end of your massage session on for example stretching and training. All massage therapists at the Ugglapraktiken works according to the Uggla spirit (Länk). It is your receipt for quality!

Massage with your clothes on

If you feel reluctant to take your clothes off for the treatment, don’t worry, the massage will be just as beneficial if you keep them on!

Pregnancy, illnesses, wounds etc

It is ok to have a massage when you are pregnant, but you should avoid it for the first weeks to be on the safe side.
Regarding illness, there is a simple rule: If you are not well enough to exercise, you are not well enough for a massage.

If you are about to have a cold, it might come quicker. Feel free to ask us.

You should not have a treatment if you have:

  • Fever
  • Fracture
  • Open wounds
  • Hemophilia
  • Cortisone/antiinflammatory medicine
  • Tumors/cancer. Always ask your doctor.
  • Cardiovascular disease. Always ask your doctor.
  • Arteriosclerotic – the massage therapist avoids the affected areas

Do not take painkillers before treatment. It might give false signals to the body and the massage therapist might give more pressure than needed. This can give you pain, as the medicine wears off. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
